Barbosa Cabinets Inc. uses a custom formulated catalyzed conversion varnish as a clear top coat. This conversion varnish is water and chemical resistant and will provide years of durable and carefree appearance. It is very important that the following steps be taken to ensure that nothing will contaminate the finish.
Cleaning or “wiping down” of the cabinets within the first thirty days after delivery is to be done with a clean, dry cloth only. It takes a full thirty days for the finish to cure 100%.
Use only a clean, lightly water dampened cloth to wipe off dust and dirt.
DO NOT use cleaning fluid, polishing oil, lemon or any other type of oil, wax or silicone-based polish, as well as harsh chemicals or bleach to clean the cabinets.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW CABINETS
To remove grease, oil, water-based paint, etc. use a clean damp cloth with mild soap and water ONLY. Avoid excessive moisture. Wipe up spills, drips or water spots immediately so that moisture is not absorbed into the cabinets. Do not drape wet towels or washcloths on the finished cabinets. Place coffee makers away from finished cabinet area. Avoid using any type of spray lacquer or clear finish to touch up nicks and other minor damages.
ANY DEVIATION FROM THESE GUIDELINES WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO COMPLETE ANY TOUCH UP THAT MAY BE REQUIRED.
AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION
After the warranty expires it is up to the individual whether or not to use some form of furniture polish, wax or spray. It is not required to preserve the finish under normal conditions, and depending on the specific product, it may even be harmful and damaging to the sheen. Unless each successive coat of wax, oil, or polish is cleaned off prior to re-application, a dulling effect can take place. With proper care and cleaning your beautiful finish should last for years to come.
